You should browse around
http://h18002.www1.hp.com/alphaserver/archive/800
The alpha instruction set is different to X86
so anything you install has to be built for the alpha,
you cannot install an X86 version of NT NetBSD linux or anything else.
You will have to aquire either an alpha-specific cd of Windows NT
(in which case you should also get support files from
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/alphant/firmware/as800.html)
or a copy of vms or Tru64
There are various linux versions that can be downloaded as an alpha iso
you should browse comp.os.linux.alpha for hints
netbsd you can get from http://www.netbsd.org/Ports/alpha/
