What you're asking is similar in scope, if not quite as complex, as
asking "I'm new to brain surgery, any help greatly appreciated".

As another poster mentioned, if you know another UNIX flavor, you're
one *big* step up on HP - particularly if it's Solaris. Under the covers
there's a lot of differences, but most of the commands between the two,
particularly for generic admin, are the same.

You're best bet would be to pick up a book on HP admin. There's any
number of them. Unfortunately, I don't have any specific ISBNs as
I haven't read them - been doing HP longer than the books have been out.
Check out your favorite computer book store, or www.oreilly.com.

Another suggestion is the http://docs.hp.com web site. LOTS and LOTS
    of docs there.

Final suggestion - go to the training. That's probably the quickest
way to get up to speed on an HP system. Check out
    http://www.education.hp.com/curr-unix.htm for details.

The answer to your specific questions, though:

    ioscan(1m) shows hardware information.
    ifconfig(1m) shows/configures network interfaces.
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf is the configuration file for the network
and is sourced on boot. Make sure you know what you're doing
      before mucking with that file.
