What happens when a swapfs directory is removed while it's still
active?

# swapinfo
Kb Kb Kb PCT START/ Kb
TYPE AVAIL USED FREE USED LIMIT RESERVE PRI NAME
dev 1404928 523660 881268 37% 0 - 1
/dev/vgalt/lvol3
swapinfo: ERROR: Cannot get file system info for paging on
"/export1/paging": No such file or directory (errno = 2).
localfs 1740800 0 1740800 0% 1740800 0 5
/export2/paging
reserve - 2572720 -2572720
#

I didn't do it. I just found this system in that state.

Are applications going to crash due to missing backing store or is the
directory only needed for user-space (non-kernel) programs to examine
the contents of swap?

Thanks,
BP
