Which is better for performance - RAID 1+0 or 0+1 ?

I'm aware of the technical specifications of both RAID 1+0 and 0+1.
What I'm interested in finding out is:
"if you had a system where performance is very important would you
configure your disks as raid 1+0 or 0+1?"
I've read that in the "all disks available" state raid 0+1 has the
edge over raid 1+0 in terms of read and write performance. I'm aware
that the overall redundancy of raid 1+0 is better than raid 0+1 and
that the degredation of raid 0+1 performance is worse than 1+0 when a
disk fails.
My sincere apologies about these poorly substantiated "better" and
"worse" descriptions. My science teacher would be very displeased
.....
All comments appreciated.
