Eventually, check with sam->kernel->drivers if btlan0 driver is
loaded/available.

from
anywhere?
I think driver is available only on Application CD (usually 4 CDs). Check on
ebay.

I have found this on ITRC about INP0500:

interface cards

Problem Description

Are there any known differences between
older Interphase cards and HP interfaces?

Configuration Info

Operating System - HP-UX
Version - 10.20
Hardware System - HP 9000
Series - D350

Solution

While there are no particular hardware differences,
the range of the MAC address differs on the HP
interface. Also, the EISA Card ID is changed to
reflect an HP ID (which resembles INP0500).

The driver for the HP interface is based on
the Interphase code.

You can see some differences between the Interphase
configuration file and that of the HP card, but
they are generally not useful for setting up the
cards.

There is no current upgrade path from Interphase to
HP cards.

Problem Description

I am trying to configure EISA 100BaseT. Can you give me some
guidance doing this?

Configuration Info

Operating System - HP-UX
Version -10.20
Hardware System - HP 9000
Series -755

Solution

Here is some basic information to follow:

1. First, install patches PHNE_16402 and PHCO_16577 .
A patch may be superseded by a more recent version so
make sure you load the most current version available.

2. shutdown -h 0

3. Attach the system to the network.

4. Log in as root, you must have version HP-UX 10.20 or later.

5. Load software media B5497AA or J2781AA with swinstall.

6. Run eisa_config

7. Verify eisa_config displays !HWPCOE1,!HWPCO51 OR !HWPCO10
as slot 0.

8. Add card configuration: add !INP0500

9. Run show board command.

10. Save changes.

11. Configure card with SAM--networking and Communications-Network
Interface Cards.

12: Verify installation with ioscan hardware path: lan EISA
card INP0500.

13. lanscan and note NMID and Station Address.

14. linkloop -i NMID Station_Address to verify not errors.

15. Ping and netstat -in to verify connectivity.

EISA 100Mbit INP0500 NICs are vulnerable to RF interference. DocId:
KBRCKBRC00002837 Updated: 6/23/00 12:58:14 AM

PROBLEM
Extremely poor peformnace on two servers in a data center with many other
unaffected systems. On these two D-class servers affeceted, they are the
only
ones in the data center with EISA 100Mbit cards, all other machines have HSC
100Mbit cards going to the same switches and are fine. Syslog shows cable
disconenct messages, cards refusing to run at 100Mbit half-duplex and
dropping
to 10Mbits with poor performance at that speed too.
CONFIGURATION
D250 & D350 10.20 EISA INP0500 Interphase 100Mbit cards.
RESOLUTION
Patching to latest level of the boxes and the switch were unsuccessful.
Latest
firmware added to switch, still no joy. Check with RF meter showed
substantial
RF interference around the systems. Customer givent he choice of trying
shielded cables or going to HSC cards - as he already had working HSC cards
in
the environment he decided on these. No problems after changing to HSC
cards.

Problem Description

My NIC is not seen by my system "ioscan -kfC lan" only
shows lan2 which is built in ethernet. With "ioscan -kf" it looks for
"UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN". The description field shows INP0500. This is the
Interphase card. The NIC part number is A3658A. The software
part number for this is J2781AA. Can you help me determine what is
wrong?

Configuration Info

Operating System - HPUX
Version - 10.20
Hardware System - HP 9000
Series - D370

Solution

The problem is you have the Dec. 97 Dart CD and the software part
number J2781AA is not on this CD.

To resolve this you will need to order DART 38 or higher from contracts,
or Roseville contracts for media, call 800-386-1115.

Problem Description

I have an 100BaseT EISA A4308B interface
and am uncertain as to it's proper
configuration and installation.

What procedure should I use to insure
that the interface is setup correctly?

Configuration Info

Operating System - HP-UX
Version - 10.X
Hardware System - HP 9000

Solution

Use the following procedure to correctly
install and configure the 100BaseT EISA A4308B
interface:

1. You need to install patches PHNE_13721
   and PHCO_14888.

2. shutdown -h 0

3. Attach the system to the network.

4. Log in as root (you must have version HP-UX 10.20 or later).

5. Load software media B5497AA or J2781AA with swinstall.

6. Run eisa_config

7. Verify that eisa_config displays !HWPCOE1,!HWPCO51 OR
   !HWPCO10 as slot 0.

8. Add card configuration with the following command:

   add !INP0500

9. Run show board command.

10. Save changes.

11. Configure interface with SAM (Networking and Communications->
    Network Interface Cards.)

12. Verify installation with ioscan hardware path by the following
    command:

    lan EISA card INP0500

13. Use lanscan to determine the NMID and Station Address.

14. Use linkloop -i NMID Station_Address to verify that there
    are no errors.

15. Use Ping and netstat -in to verify connectivity.

* Note: Patches may be superseded; be sure to load the most
        current version.
