Benjamin,
Despite some truth, eg this happens with other company's retailed products too,
that was a very rude and generally crappy answer.
There's much quality yet in HP, and it bothers me to read such posts - in both
directions - in this newsgroup.
While the poster really should have fully checked out the laptop that was up
and running in the store, my thoughts are that if there is no visable external
damage from after the purchase then the store ought to replace a newly
purchased unit.
I don't know if there's a "lemon law" for computers - but there ought to be.
Even if that were only 1 out of some large number, it's an expensive purchase
off to a bad start. Who would feel comfortable or satisfied with that.
Wie Wie, as Benjamin asked, was this a demo unit or some such with limited
warranty? Or a new unit. I would pursue with the retailer rather than with HP.
