Why would you use an HP box with a dhcp address? it just makes
management and use of the system that much more problematic. Hard code
it and a lot of your problems will go away. From a technical perspective
it sounds like you are in a vlan env and bootp/dhcp doesnt travel well
across that unless it specifically defined.
