Ahm, you mean a DS2405 not a VA7110 ? - this are two different types of
arrays. The 2405 is a JBOD and the VA7110 is a RAID array with
virtualisation in RAID10/RAID5 or RAID5

If you need high performance, you better use a lot of disks for your db.
I think, in these config the disk array can be the greatest bottleneck.
