There is no future. PA-RISC will die with the PA-8900 series. HPs
future in this market segment (high end server and supercomputers; the
traditional RISC workstation market is already dead and taken over by
wintel) is the Itanium2 (which despite the negative image is a very
good and powerful processor)...
Investing money in PA-RISC today is riding a dead horse. The only
reason to buy PA-RISC is if Your current infrastructure relies on
PA-RISC and if Your software can't be ported to Itanium easily...

yes.

High end XEONs and Opterons are faster (nothing beats x86 in terms of
bang for the buck).
