I got it working, but turned it off.

CDE hangs everytime a new ip-address was assigned, because CDE checks the ip-address versus the hostname and does not get a match (/etc/hosts still has the old lease as a matching pair).
It is a X-Windows problem, my Linux box is also unhappy about changes in IP-adresses.

Let your DHCP server issue static ip adresses to each hardware address.
