format a batch of tapes, but why recycling valid data, and why erase the tapes
after that?

time of backup , specify tape to backup is GUI needed... I try to look.
for http://doc.hp.com .... oh god... it likes to seek a needle in
Ocean. I try to man , but it has not enough information about those
command. It seems very difficult to search more information ~
