someone on the list said PA-RISC is to it EOF. But, HP sales
still recommend PA-RISC based 8420 server.
Should we consider new architecture base server but not 8420?

Here is the wording off of the hp.com site at:
http://www.hp.com/products1/evolution/9000/faqs.html
"In response to customer demand, the HP 9000 Superdome and midrange
servers will be available for purchase through 2008, with service and
support through 2013. The HP 9000 entry-class servers will be
available for purchase through 2007, with service and support through
2012. As always, HP will continue to monitor customer needs."
8420 should be sold thru 2008 and supported thru 2013 running hp-ux
11i, however the PA-RISC will go away eventually.
The next question you need to address: Are all of the applications
you run in the risc platform available / supported on Itanium boxes?
