Re: Get HP-UX? "Enthusiast" License?

* Ralf Folkerts:

thanks for your reply! For your first comment: Well, I did do a search in comp.sys.hp.hpux. I also subscribed the group two weeks before I posted my question (as I regularly do) in the hope to find an FAQ.

Sadly there isn't really a FAQ.

However, my ISP seems to expire Articles (in this particular group) rather soon and so I didn't find anything. I must admit that I rely on my ISPs INN and don't use groups.g**gle etc.

Searching over your news provider usually is a bad idea, not only for the reasons you experienced. Groups.google.com is much better as it stores (almost) all UseNet messages and goes back to at least a decade ago.

For the License-Answer: OK, thanks for making that clear! I'll set-up a search on eBay. However, do you have a estimate of what HP will charge for the Media (or, maybe a URL for that Info on the HP Site)?

The last time I looked after that (which was around two years ago) buying the media regularly was somewhere around 650EUR. Strangely, there were occasions where HP gave them away for free (i.e. due to Y2k they gave away 10.20 for free, then when 10.20 was EOL'd they gave 11.0 away, when 11.0 was EOL'd they gave away 11i v1), but every of these give-away-phases was rather short. For some time you also could order 11i CD kits for free on the HP website, but that program has been terminated.
