You have to point the env variables OSLoadPartition (and the like) to
your external drive (which is on a different bus than the internal one -
the indigo2 has 2 scsi busses). Then it will install without any
problem. I did the same here on an O2 (without internal drive the
machine is much cooler and doesn't spin up its PSU fan - which i also
replaced with a silent one; to make things complete the external drive
is a very silent 5400 rpm IDE drive with a SCSIDE adaptor *8-)).
