Khalid-
I just built a disk ( with much appreciated help from UNIX Museum ) with
6.5.8 install media and upgraded to 6.5.23m last night. The only patch I
installed was patchSG0005086 before setting about to do the upgrade to
6.5.23m and all is well.
If you want to know more about the need for the patch, search
comp.sys.sgi.misc or comp.sys.sgi.hardware for a post titled "Which IRIX
upgrade is an Octane killer?"; it was from 2004-02-15.
Regards,
El Irixer
