The short answer:
1- download the 3-5 tar.gz files from sgi
2- gunzip/untar them in a convenient location
3- read the caveats from sgi (this is very important that you read this
in detail as you'd most likely have to install at least one patch in
order to be successful in step 4)
4- point swmgr to these directories and let it rip
