Yes, but can't test this today. Perhaps tomorrow, or Friday.

Before getting more deeply into flexlm troubleshooting, do you believe
there could be some network setting which might cause such idle status
pause while connecting to the license server (which is in the same
physical machine)? The machine is connected to a small local network.
No internet connection.

I notice similar pauses when I login: The desktop appears without
icons, and then a few seconds later they begin to appear. Also, when I
do an ftp connection from another machine in the local network,
there's a pause of several seconds until I get the login prompt.

Do you think these symptoms might have some connection with the flexlm
problem?

Yes, I can try to upgrade, although I've the feeling there's another
cause for the problem.

Sometimes I get the error in the first file I compile, so I believe
it's not a problem of unavailable licenses. Moreover, the error
clearly states "No server for this feature", it doesn't mention
there're no licenses available.
