Have you checked 'man serial' or looked on techpubs.sgi.com? On
Octane it was programmable to RS232 or RS422, but I believe the cable
wiring for the two standards is different - i.e. an RS232 cable/device
may not work properly with the port in RS422 mode, and vice-versa.
'man serial' shows the difference in pinouts anyway, if you need to
adjust your cable spec.
