When seeing the maintenance screen just insert your Overlay 1/x CD from
your irix media collection and press the '2 Software installation'.
After loading the miniroot you can open a shell after switching into
the /Admin menu.
There you can mount your existing disc and edit the passwd or shadow file.
Same way as on every unix machine.
