An excellent decision. Solaris is up-to-date and SCO quit maintaining
their OS a few years back.

What model, how much memory, what drives are installed?

Not really.

If you have a sun4m or sun4u processor, enough memory and large enough
drives along with a CDROM drive then just place Software CD 1/2 into the
CDROM, bring the machine to an ok prompt and

ok boot cdrom

That should start the installation process and most everything is rather
well explained to you on the screen. Initially you either accept the
default partitioning scheme or select some amount of swap, say 512MB, and
allocate all the rest of the drive space to the root partition, /.
