    Yes, it is on the root master server as I have already mentioned in the
    beginning of my first message. Actually we have only two servers both
    running Solaris 8 - one is NIS+ root master and the other is replica and
    they are both in the admin group.

    On the replica as root I still cannot change user's passwords but I get
    something different:

    # passwd user
    This password differs from your secure RPC password.
    Please enter your old Secure RPC password:
    This password does not decrypt your secure RPC password.
    ...

    I am keylogged in and anyway she doesn't mean the root Secure RPC
    password as it does not accept it and keylogin does.
