It is very easy:
Don't top post, i.e. don't post your repsonse at the top with
a complete copy of the post you reply to below that. It is very
hard to know what exactly you are responding to if the post you
responded to is large.
Don't bottom post, i.e. don't post your repsonse just below a
complete copy of the post you reply to. It is very hard to know
what exactly you are responding to if the post you responded to
is large. One variant, the AOL style, is to include a complete
post and just add "Me too!" at the bottom.
The proper way to post is to remove everything that is not
important to your post. Every news reader client should be able
to find the old article if someone feels that it is needed.
Interleave your answers/comments with the remaining text from
the article you respond to.
