The stock Solaris printer interface doesn't know how to tell the
Laserjet to switch fonts. The most widely used software that
does know how to do this, HP's Jetadmin/Jetdirect software,
doesn't support Solaris x86 (though you can use its interfaces
if your printer is connected to your parallel port).
People have posted a URL to an ancient version of the Jetadmin
software that works on Solaris x86. A search of these groups
on groups.google.com should reveal it to you.
Otherwise, you'll either need to hack the Solaris interface to
issue the appropriate PCL codes, or use commercial software like
PShop at www.vividata.com.
