Dear All,
I have been asked to upgrade a 400MHz E450, with Solaris2.6, to use 480MHz
processors.
The system board is a 501-5270, so I think this needs to be changed to the
501-5673 at the same time.
The bit I'm concerned about is the OE... According to SunSolve,
sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_private/Systems/E450/E450.html, I should use HW
5/98 to build the system. I know it was built from the 3/98 CDs.
If I apply the current recommended patch cluster will that sort everything
out, or would the latest kernel patch suffice?
Or do I really need to go back to the distribution CDs?
I'd like to do the least possible, as I'll be on-site when it happens, but
I'm concerned that the least posible might not be quite enough!
I'd appreciate the experience of anyone who has done this upgrade and can
shed some light for me.
Many thanks,
Andy.
