Hi group,
for testing purposes I'm trying to setup a jumpstart server on a Debian
Linux (woody) system. What I did:
- I used a SunBlade 100 with Solaris 9 and a Solaris 9 DVD and
"setup_install_server"
- I copied the resulting directory structure to my Linux WS below
/fs2/jumpstart/install using tar and shared this directory with
"rw,anon=0,no_root_squash"
- I created another directory /fs2/jumpstart/config, put the nessecery
fils in it, copied rules.ok from the SunBlade and shared that dir, too
- configured rarpd, bootparamd, tftpd
My client I like to jumpstart is an Ultra10 /w 300MHz CPU. First I had
/fs2/jumpstart/install shared ro, but then the jumpstart process stopped
right after booting the kernel. Googling around I found a hint to share
rw. After that the jumpstart process stopped after "configuring
devices", with a spinning "wheel" forever. I used a network sniffer to
look at the traffic. The last few network packages were a NFS V3 lookup
for a file "protocol", an ICMP message and some ARP requests "who has
192.168.1.35 tell 192.168.1.35". This IP is my Ultra10 I'm trying to
jumpstart.
The Sun docs I have and Google didn't help me. Anybody has some hints
for me?
Regards,
Danny
