Hmmm, that one patched a shutdown problem. Nothing to do with startup.
And I never deliberately shut the server down except for required reboots
or hardware maintenance.

Nothing in the "Problem Description" which appears to affect /sbin/init.
But I may have missed seeing it; that is a big patch.

I use Linux on a desktop machine and, reluctantly, on a couple of servers
which I do not own. The hardware available was x86 and Solaris x86
was unsuitable either for lack of capability or availablilty of the
desired app.
You did not answer my point, however. In the "Recommended" patch clusters
have there been new driver patches without a new kernel patch being
included also?
