Hi all,

I am having trouble to run an A5000 StoreEdge Box off of a Qlogic
QLA2100 FC-AL controller on Solaris 8 / SPARC.

The drivers from qlogic's website are installed and I did a reboor -r

I have an AXi with 32-bit PCI slots

What I know :

The A5000 runs fine on a SBus Based FC-AL controller with same drives
and cables.
I was told, that the QLA2100 (though it is (also) designed for 64-bit
will run fine in a 32-bit slot (which is my configuration).

What I don't know :

- if my QLA2100 is broken
- how to check if the QLA2100 ist broken

Usually, when I connect the A5000 to the SBus controller, I can see a
'lightning symbol' showing up on the A5000 panel, letting me know that
there's a working connection between the controller and the A5000

I don't have this 'lightning symbol' when I connect the A5000 to the
QLA2100. Checking the operator's panel on the A5000 it says, that
there's no signal on either FC-Connector on the A5000.

Ist this 'normal* for the QLA2100 ?
When should this symbol show up ? Do I have to have the OS running
before I can see this symbol (it doesn't seem to be the case with the
SBus controller).

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

Matthias
