Going through my current list of patches for Solaris 9 9/04 SPARC
I see some which require a reboot according to README but maybe
don't, e.g.:

112785-43 (Xsun and libX*). Restarting Xsun and applications using
the shared libs should be enough.

112807-11 (dtlogin). Restarting dtlogin suffices (the README mentions
that at the end).

112964-09 (ksh). Restarting ksh scripts is enough.

On the other hand, 113329-11 doesn't require a reboot, although it
replaces lpsched.

Anyway - for me it's OK. Sun is on the safe side recommending those
reboots, and experienced admins can decide on their own if they
are necessary.

What I really would like to see is the R/S tag for patches being tied
to specific patch revisions. As it is now a patch gets marked R/S
on the first revision that fixes an R/S problem, and keeps it as
long as it exists, although later revisions are for non R/S fixes
only. This one could save a lot of time for unneeded patch installs
done only to stay current on R/S patches. Should be easy to implement
by Sun, too - I assume the bugs already carry an R/S tag, and
patchdiag.xref could list the highest patch revision including security
fixes instead of the "S" mark.
