My auto_master nis+ map does not have that entry. But it has been a
long time since I set this up. I would guess that "nispopulate"
already excludes that line, so you don't have to remove it your
self. In any case, you could remove later with "nistbladm".

You will likely need to add those to your nis+ auto_home map. But
you won't need them in your "/etc/auto_home". Put the needed entries
in a separate file, and use "nisaddent" to add them to your map.

Normally you want the files to be small, and have most of the data
only in nis+. You would typically add an entry to a file only to
override the nis+ map on a particular system.

Yes.

I did it the other way. I add an entry

machine machine:/export/home

for each machine. Then I set the home directory of "joeuser"
to be "/home/theserver/joeuser".

I do this to reduce the length of the "df" output.
