I don't know about Sun's cdrw, but I know with cdrecord you should not
have vold running.
I've created Solaris bootable CDs from both cdrecord and Adaptec's Easy
SCSI on a PC. Never had a problem.
Could you check your cdwriter by making a Windoze or Linux bootable CD?
