Hello,
I just upgraded from Solaris 8 to Solaris 9.
When using Solaris 8 and CDE and when I locked the display, I had the
Solaris 8 logo, and typed in my password. When wrong password was typed, I
got a BEEP. I find this handy, because I just hit ENTER (and get a BEEP)
before typing in my password and another ENTER to unlock. That was the CDE
lock program under the LockDisplay action.
Now on Solaris 9, when I issue the LockDisplay action in CDE, either by
hotkey or by clicking on the lock, I get a blank screen with a small square,
and some text, including the number of failed attempts and time elapsed since
locked. All of this is neat, but the problem is I lost my BEEP upon each
failed attempt. However, if I do not lock manually and leave the station, maybe
for 30 minutes, the normal CDE lock program with the BEEP, but with Sol9
logo instead of Sol8, is back!
How do I insert a BEEP into the LockDisplay with information, in
/usr/openwin/bin/xlock? If I can't, then how do I always lock the screen
with the CDE lock program that includes the BEEP?
Thanks for any solution.
Luc
