Hello
I am trying to set up a new installation of Solaris 9 on a Sun 3500 with one
gig of ram, five 9gig hard drives. I don't
know the pwd for the current OS. I would like to install a fresh operating
system. I checked and the 3500 is compatible with OS9. When the
installation from the CD gets to the section for setup of the disks it
reports an error. The error is "Cannot find disks make sure disks are
cabled properly with power". There are a total of four disks. The disks
appear to be powered properly as the lights on the disks light up. They
plug directly into the Sun slots. I can browse thru the files that are on
the system now so I do have access to the disks. I just dont have admin
permissions to write/install over the current OS. The message that seems to
be strange is during inital information the system reports " The system
doesnt support dynamic reconfiguration" I am not sure what this message
means.
How do I get the system to recognize the drives. I think the goal is just
to start with a fresh install. This box will be a very glorified workstation
for development, admin practice and testing. I really dont want to even
mirror the drives. I have had a couple years with HP but not with the Sun
OS.
Thanks for any info or help!!!
