What issues are you referring to ? - maybe they have been resolved.
The 2.4.29 kernel is now stable on everything except Sun4d SMP, AFAIK
the only other significant problem is FC25, the drivers do not have a
maintainer and are stuck at 2.2.x. (VOLUNTEERS WANTED).

Sun4m SMP now works well in Linux, this is missing from BSD.

Sparc32 support is not yet ready in Linux 2.6, this is work in progress
but the 64 bit Ultrasparc 1 series work just fine.
