If your ADSL connection uses pppoe, I recommend a modem that has a
pppoe client built in. I had adsl working with the sun ppp client last
year with solaris 10, but I ran into bugs with both pppd and ipfilter
which made me go ouot and buy a router with built in pppoe support
instead. Those bugs have now been fixed, but I don't know if they are
fixed in solaris 8.
