Thanks for the directions. I tried them, but it didn't work.

I removed all signs of the RAID-5 metadevice.
Replacing the disk...well...that's basically done. I used format on
it.
When I ran the metainit command as so:
metainit d0 -r c1t10d0s0 c1t11d0s0 c1t12d0s0 c1t13d0s0 c1t14d0s0 -k -i
32b
...it came back with...:
metainit: hoster: d0: devices were not RAIDed previously or are
specified in the wrong order
...which I'm getting very tired of seeing. *lol*

I have tried the same thing with every combination of the devices and
run into the same scenario.

I've had a (dangerous) thought...and I have no idea if it will work.
I'd appreciate feedback...
1) use dd to back up the slices that are good. Copy them over to
something that can hold them individually.
2) create the metadevices using the normal commands.
3) boot from a CD and use dd to copy the images back to the hard
drives.
4) pull the hard drive to be synchronized from the other data.
5) reboot and see what happens.

My thinking is that the system should boot and report that the one disk
has failed. If it does, I should still be able to mount the file
system and access the files. If that works, putting the disk back in
will cause a synchronization to start and I should have everything
back.

Thoughts?

Thanks again.
