I'm having a little trouble installing Solaris 9 on a Ultra 5.
I can get the CD1 to boot the machine by doing:
boot cdrom
after which it prompts me to install the contents of the CD1 onto a
partition on a disk. After that the machine reboots and a bland
Solaris 9 logo comes up after which I'm prompted to give info such as,
IP, hostname, daemons and so on and it gets to the point where it
instructs me to insert CD1. I do that, but then it spews out a message
saying that the CD1 is unrecognised media which doesn't contain
Solaris.
If its unrecognised media, how come it copies Solaris onto the hard
disk and boots into it in the first place ?
I've read the SA239, student guide part 1, documenting the
install. Also I've searched the web and the news but they all seem to
turn up references to x86 install.
What am I doing wrong ?
Have you encountered this before ?
Thank you for your time :)
If you burned the CD yourself, that could account for it. The disks
are formatted in a somewhat unusual way.
It's probably now looking at a different part of the CD than what it
first booted from.
