need to see tape libary using 'mt' command

I am attemptining to see a tape library (exabyte 220) using the mt -f
/devices/sbus@1f,0:scsi status, it comes back with
'mt: Inappropriate ioctl for device'
-this is a solaris 9 system.
-prob-scsi-all reports
/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000
Target 1
Unit 0 Removable Device type 8 EXABYTE EXB-220
6.046.04.003
maybe the path im using is incorrect, any help is appreciated.
