|with u5, you can't use UPA slot
Because the case physically limits access to the UPA slot which is
present on the motherboard, as Rich said. If you ever login to either
a U5 or U10, you'll see the machine can't even tell the difference -
uname -a reports SUNW,Ultra-5_10 since it can just tell the motherboard
model and not what case it was installed in.
