Well, at first I put the drive in and boot the machine (from a cd) did a
format, labeled the drive with a partition and it only showed half a gig.

Then I saw that it was only showing, if I recall, only 500 or so of the
16,383 cylinders, 2 heads.

So I used the format, disk command and was able to enter that it really has
16,383 cylinders, 16 heads and 63 sectors and that it runs at 7200 rpm...
There was a bunch of stuff after that which I didn't have a clue were so I
just left it to defaults. This got it to go to 8.7 gigs.

I am assuming that the other information I left for default was probably
supposed to have more info in it, but rather than screw something up I left
them to default, cause WD's info page didn't provide the info in a manner
that made any sense compared to what was showing up on the screen when I
did the Disk thing.
