That's sufficient as long as you make the Ultra 1's open boot prom
ignore the CD pin on its "A" (ttya) port. At the "ok" prompt, type
"setenv ttya-ignore-cd true".

You don't say what size connector you already have on your mouse
cable, or what size connector you're going to attach to the cut-off
end.
