You can change the resolution for the built-in console which runs
"OpenBoot" before an operating system is loaded. I think this is what
you are after since you mention you're installing the card - I always
insist on being able to see the console graphically before booting
Solaris as well as after. OpenBoot uses ok as the prompt, hence it
looks something like this :-

   ok setenv output-device screen:r1152x900x76
   ok reset

except you have to type this blind if your monitor can't cope with the
current resolution. Power-cycle the machine, wait about 20 seconds,
press Stop and A simultanously (Stop might be labelled L1) then wait
for it to reset and you should see something now (assumign your
monitor can at least handle 1152x900 - that's not a very challenging
resolution.

To change the resolution only when Solaris is running, then that's
easier, just use fbconfig as Dave Uhring already pointed out. You can
make resolution changes in test mode and only make them permanent when
you get a good one - just use fbconfig -try ...
