Two in fact, been idle for some time...
Booted them, or rather not, both failed. I hooked up a terminal and set
all diags to max, this is the summary.
Ultra 30, allegedly 512mb, can't make it's mind up whether it's in fact
256mb or 384mb. POST tells me DIMM failure in different slots
everytime, include ones with no modules in! With the occasional Ecache
failure too. Booting hangs at booting the disk. Well it did, now it
seems to be looping full POST and diags.....
Ultra 60, passes POST, hangs after memory initialisation with a solid
cursor. I managed to somehow get Netbsd on it but now it's back to the
block cursor. The oddity here is POST (or diags) lists scsi device 3 as:
scsi disk tape scsi disk tape
Instead of:
scsi disk tape
Bad term?
Anyway, anyone help before I junk them and get an Octane!
