Hi Dave,
The hard drive in the original and second sun was knackered, but i was happy
enough with the replacement as i ended up with 128mbs extra memory. And
happily this machine displays a nice VGA image and ok prompt :D
I tested a hard drive out of a pc and i received a magic number error,
assume ive just got to configure openboot to recognise it. Im a total newbie
with Sun hardware.
What i also tried to do was replace the CDrom drive as i think the one
installed is a bit flakey, was wishing to install FreeBSD but CDrom wont
boot from the disk. I tried a Creative drive just now but it doesnt show up
on probe-ide, so i imagine theres something i need to configure.
I have a downloaded Sun manual but it doesnt supply much information with
regards to changing to non standard Ultra 5 hardware.
Thanx.
