Sorry for this really old thing, but I'm (re)installing
an old Ultra 1e with brand new 4.5gb disks ;-)
Brand new 4.5gb disks, surely you are joking?
not at all, Ok, they where lost for years,
but they are really new ;-)
Unfortunately, I can't remember and even find a good
google-keyword on "how to label/format new disks in
an ultra 1e"
I remember it's been done using the firmware; I just
can't find the command again..
No, it is done using the OS with "format".
The firmware banner, if it can helps, shows:
Sun Ultra 1 SBus (UltraSPARC 143MHz)
OpenBoot 3.11, 64 MB memory installed,
64MB, that must be the tiniest one ever sold.
I hope: it's deadly slow ;-)
Boot Solaris (from CD or net) and then use format.
boot cdrom -s and, then, format !
It was simply that thing I was missing.
Thanx. TM.
