Problems with D1000 storage area

Hi,

I have been given a pair of D1000 storage arrays and naively thought it
would be a simple job to hook one up to my V120.

Here's what i've tried so far
- Connected the D1000 to a V120 but got nothing from a 'probe-scsi-all'
(except the internal disk)
- Tried various cables / terminators still no output from 'probe-scsi-all'
(except the internal disk)
- Tried the second D1000, same symptoms.
- Connected to a Ultra 1 but got nothing from a 'probe-scsi-all', not even
the internal disk now !!

I finally admited defeat and resorted to the handbook, after checking the
dip switch and address settings i get the same symptoms.

Later in the handbook i found the following:

For PCI based hosts - PCI to dual differential UltraSCSI adapter, Model
X6541A

For SBus based hosts - SBus to differential UltraSCSI adapter, UDWIS/S Model
X1065A

If possible i would like to run one D1000 on the V120 and one on the Ultra
1. The X6541A seems readily available but not so the X1065A. Do i need these
exact models or will later models work ?

Is the SCSI on the V120 (80 MBps UltraSCSI-2 SE/LVD from the specs) not
compatible with the D1000 ?

(BTW both D1000's where working when removed)
