Even though you need Raid Manager software to talk to and manage the A1000
it's still a Hardware Raid.
The controller has a processor and memory on board.
What version of Raid Manager are you running and is the controller firmware
up-to-date?
Have you tried a power cycle of both the host machine and A1000 to see if
that brings the controller back to a known state?
If you do wind up replacing the controller, then be sure to get one with
firmware compatible with the version of Raid Manager you have installed.
Also the battery needs to be replaced every two years. So if it has been
running for years and the battery has never been replaced, then that could
cause am amber light as well.

The firmware has never been updated but neither has the RM software.
They are compatable versions. I didn't know that about the battery!
That may be the problem. I will have to look into that. Thanks.
BTW if I got the replacement disk for the bad one right away and
swapped them can I still put the disk into service or does it need the
controller in a different state for that? I assume it has to rebuild
the RAID onto the replacement disk? ..unless it just makes the new one
the new hot spare. I have to read up on that.
Thanks,
Tom
