Hi,

I just got myself two X1195A (450 MHz US-II CPUs) off eBay to put in my
Ultra 60 that currently has two X1191A (300 MHz) CPUs. The old CPUs say
501-4849 on them (both being 4849-03, REV 56). The new ones say 501-5539
(one being a 5539-04, REV 54 the other a 5539-05, REV 55).

Problem is: the X1191As work (individually and both combined) while the
new ones don't (not even individually). Even the power light does *NOT*
come on when I install one (or two) of the X1195As. Not a very good sign
I think.

I hope to have access to a serial console cable as of Monday, till then
I can't look at the console output (if there even is any).

Any idea as to what could be wrong other than the CPUs themselves being
faulty?

Thanks.

I have a relataed issues on known good CPUs if anybody could help I
would appreeciate it.

I have two pair of 450 MHz CPUs and they all work in Ultra 60 (unit a)
and not anothe Ultra 60 (unit b) that I have. The CPUs come on and
both are recognized but the OBP says they are 2 X 256 MHz. I have the
J3001 jumper set correctly (learned that from the first upgrade) and
the OBP is at 3.31 (latest).

I can move any of the 450 MHz CPUs to unit a and the are recognized
infividually or in pairs as 450 MHz. It's just this unit b Ultra 60
that does not recognize them properly. The 360 MHz CPU is recognized
properly in unit b when it is installed (and J3001 is set jumpering
1-2).

THis is the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

Help?

Daniel
