Sun Trunking v1.3 QFE and Cisco 3524XL

Hello everyone,
My current project is to get two QFE interfaces in two different
machines: an E420R and Ultra60, to trunk with a Cisco 3524. Here is
what I've done:
The Sun Trunk v1.3 FAQ states that 802.3ad is supported with v1.3. My
3524XL doesn't support 802.3ad, however it supports IEEE 802.1q. This is
what I'm trying to resolve:
I have 8 ports via 2 QFE interfaces in both the E420R and Ultra60.
I have the trunk setup, plumbed, and configured with ifconfig and all
connectivity is operational.
When I set the policy to 2 when I connect the server and workstation back
to back, all data is evenly distributed between the ports (nettr -stats 0
device=qfe shows 25% on each interface), however when the policy is set for
mac hashing between the switch and the E420R and Ultra60, data only goes
out between one and sometimes two interfaces, no others.
With the 3524XL you get just 802.1Q or ISL, so I've been attempting
802.1q, but not working too well. The 2950 supports 802.3ad, should I
perhaps attempt that with the QFE and Sun Trunking v1.3?
Basically on the cisco end I've setup two 8 port port-groups...
port group 1 through 3 to 10, and port group 2 through 11 to 18 and they
are default to distribution source. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't messed with any VLAN configurations. The only VLAN is the
default VLAN1 with the switch.
