ultra 80 ram question

hi everybody

soon i will get a ultra 80 from ebay. i have a BIG question. the u80 comes without the ram riserboard. can the system run without?
in the service manual it looks like i need the riserboard, because a dimm bank is half on the mainboard and half on the riserboard...


are there any u80 use that can help?
