Dear All,
We have a new dat72 drive that is 2 years old. Since its new we
really
want to make use of it.
It has just been newly configured on the server that runs windows
2008.
Here are the specs
Drive : Sun Dat 27 StorageTek by SUN, hardware by HP . Model : A8005A
Serial #: czc08441b1-hp
SCSI card: LSI LOGIC : LSI Adapter, Ultra320 SCSI 2000 series, w/
1020/1030
Server: SunFire x4150 running Windows 2008 Server Standard Edition.
I cant find enough support on oracle.com since sun got bought our by
them. neither on HP since the internet hardware of the drive said its
manufactured by HP.
Now after installation the SCSI card is recognized . However the Tape
drive is not .. It is not listed in Device manager not even a
exclamation signed device !
On the BackupExec compatibility Document these are the only devices
that are
mentioned :
HP StorageWorks DAT 40 [1] [2] HP^^^^^^C5683A USB 2.0 4mm 4
HP StorageWorks DAT 72 [1] HP^^^^^^C7438A SCSI 4mm 4
I also installed HP data Protect Express thinking that BackupExec isnt
supporting this drive but that didnt detect the tape drive either.
Now I dont know what are my options ? is my drive obsolete ? where can
I look for support Hp, oracle , sun ? Or should i just install it on a
different box with linux and it will get detected ?
I'd really appreciate some insite in this matter.
Thanks
.
